Should I take aspirin for prevention?

Aspirin is one of the most popular drugs in the world with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.

The history of its application goes back 3500 years, although a synthetic drug was introduced only in 1897 in Germany. Until that time, folk medicine used an extract of the leaves and bark of white willow containing salicylic acid.

In 1971, a Nobel Prize was awarded for the study of the properties of aspirin and a new area of the drug application was discovered about the prevention of thrombosis. Heart attack and strokes are one of the main causes of mortality in the world. The prophylactic use of aspirin dramatically reduced the incidence of thrombosis and maintained the health of the cardiovascular system.

The optimal dose of aspirin is 75-150mg however, each medicine has its side effect, and aspirin is no exception. The main problem is the irritation that aspirin can cause on the lining of the digestive tract, which can lead to the development of ulcers. The incidence of such complications is 10-15%. In such cases, taking aspirin is absolutely contraindicated. To reduce the risk of unwanted effects, aspirin should only be taken after meals
