How to slow down aging? Maintain a normal level of iron.

It has been found that genes regulating the exchange of iron also control the processes of ageing of the organism.

Iron is an indispensable element for the human organism that plays a major role in the synthesis of haemoglobin and other enzymes. The physiological function of red blood cells containing haemoglobin is oxygen transportation, so essentially iron transports oxygen. Iron is absorbed into the blood stream from food that comes from the gastrointestinal tract. The main source of iron comes from protein found in low-fat meat, liver, egg yolks etc.

With age, abnormally high or low levels of iron in ones blood could lead to Parkinson's disease, liver disease and the weakening of the immune system. The most common occurrence is iron deficiency commonly found in anaemia. Those most vulnerable to anaemia are infants, pregnant and nursing women: women in general are more likely to suffer from it. Older people with an excess amount of iron are also more sensitive to this.

As an additional source of iron, dietary supplements and other iron containing medication can be used to help increase its level, but with this, you can essentially “over-dose” by taking too much of it - too much iron is also bad for one person. The principal difference in the “BetavUSAN”® drug developed, (made from red beetroot juice) is that this natural product stimulates the extraction of iron ions in the intestine. For this reason, "BetavUSAN"® eliminates iron deficit, but does not carry the risk of having this element in excess.
